Kate afflicted with osteosarcoma, an uncommon bone cancer that primarily strikes youth. Any bone can get affected, although the arms and legs are the most common places to find it. If osteosarcoma is not treated promptly, it can spread to other parts of the body and grow swiftly. Compared to African Americans or Hispanics, Caucasians are more likely to experience it.

Surgery is the primary treatment option for this malignancy. The loss of Kate had a profound effect on her friends and family. They will never forget her as a truly unique individual who had a great concern for other people. Peace be with her as she rests.
