Pickled food is a delicacy many people enjoy because of the crunchy texture, the balanced sweet-and-sour taste, and the health benefits it offers.
This type of food helps with digestion and is low in calories.
What’s most, pickling is an important part of a number of cultures and can complement a wide range of dishes, from sandwiches and salads to meats and cheeses.
If pickles are the only item that spring to mind when discussing pickled foods, then you’re losing out on the wide range of other foods that may be pickled, including eggs, onions, carrots, and beets.

Here’s a simple recipe for pickled beets if you’re a fan.
a trio of medium-sized beets
One cup of vinegar made from apple cider
one cup of water
For a sweeter pickle, use 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup; if you like less sweetness, use 2 teaspoons.
One tsp salt
One teaspoon of optional mustard seeds
One-half teaspoon of optional peppercorns
Two to three peeled and crushed garlic cloves (optional)

Directions: Rinse and cut the vegetables, then boil them for 30 to 40 minutes, or until they are soft. After letting them cool, slice them into wedges or rounds. Combine the apple cider vinegar, water, salt, and honey (or maple syrup) in a small saucepan. Add the garlic, peppercorns, and mustard seeds, if preferred. Stir the liquid to make sure the honey dissolves fully and heat it until it reaches a boil. After that, turn off the heat.
Make sure the beets are well soaked in the hot brine by pouring it over them in a jar. Once the jar is at room temperature, add the herbs. Place a cover on it and store it in the refrigerator.
Pickled beets are an excellent addition to any meal, whether you want to use them in sandwiches, as a side dish, or as a snack.
