A doctor talks about the health hazards and consequences of kissing a deceased person.

We are overwhelmed when we lose someone close to us. The idea of never seeing that person again can be excruciating, and sadness and loss can seep into our hearts.

But despite these emotions and our desire to give the departed person a kiss, Moldovan physician Dr. Viktor Ivanovik discusses the dangers of doing so. His film, in which he addresses this extremely delicate subject, has sparked a lot of conversation and controversy on social media.

He claims that the corpse begins to naturally decay nine hours after death, at which point microorganisms from the rotting tissues become visible.

Those who come into touch with the body—especially when kissing—run the danger of contracting these bacteria and becoming sick.

He acknowledges that this custom is considered a type of respect and ultimate farewell to the departed, but he feels that people should be made aware of the risk they incur by unintentionally exposing themselves to dangerous infections.

It was to be expected that opinions differed.
“I gave my father a kiss, and I would do it again at any cost! “He’s my dad!” said someone. Despite their emotional bond with the dead, several people valued his counsel and expressed that they would reevaluate their choice to give a final farewell kiss.

Dr. Ivanovik underlined how kissing a deceased person might have an impact on one’s sense of smell.

An unpleasant smell that may stick in your mind for a longer period of time is sometimes produced by the body’s breakdown. Such an act can cause a considerable shift in taste and scent, according to some, which further complicates the already painful parting experience.

“To be honest, I don’t think anyone can resist giving their parent one more kiss on the forehead or hand. I gave my dad one final kiss on his hand,” one of his followers wrote.
