After her husband passed away, the Hollywood beauty returned after a 50-year absence!

Actor Roger Smith and Ann-Margret, the well-known singer and actress who starred in 1960s hits like “Viva Las Vegas” and “Bye Bye Birdie,” had a long-lasting collaboration. After being married in 1967, the pair stayed together for more than 50 years until Smith’s death in 2017.

A Collaboration in Life and Work

Smith left acting to oversee Ann-Margret’s career once they were married. He was crucial in helping her advance into increasingly difficult and sophisticated positions, which greatly aided in her career development. They were able to maintain strong personal and professional ties as a result of their cooperation.

Taking on Health Issues Together

Smith was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis in 1980, a neuromuscular condition that interfered with his day-to-day activities. Ann-Margret put her husband’s care first, even turning down job offers to help him. “I kept saying no, no, no to everything because I was taking care of him,” she said, demonstrating her dedication. In the event that one partner is unable to function, the other steps in to take over.

Take Back the Spotlight

Ann-Margret needed some time to grieve and get used to life without her longtime husband when Smith passed away in 2017 at the age of 84. She took some time to think, and then she slowly went back to her work. She shared the screen alongside actresses Ellen Burstyn and James Caan in the 2021 movie “Queen Bees.” “You’re not dead when you reach a certain age,” she said in reference to her return to work, underscoring the significance of being active and involved. You must continue to live your life and not just sit at home and watch TV. You must take part.

A Tradition of Love and Commitment

Looking back on her marriage, Ann-Margret has said she was very proud of her bond with Smith. “When I reflect on my life, I am most proud of my marriage,” she said. Both of us wanted it to succeed. And it was successful. We spent both day and night together. We were always there for one another because we loved one another.

A life characterized by love, determination, and endurance is illustrated by Ann-Margret’s path, which highlights her steadfast devotion to her spouse and her ability to bounce back to her interests.
