JonBenet Ramsey: Police said they are still looking into the 1996 murder of a six-year-old child.

No murderer has been apprehended in the 28 years after JonBenet Ramsey was discovered dead in her basement. Police have stated that they are still investigating, but they will not say if they are looking for leads.

Police have emphasized that the unsolved murder of a six-year-old beauty pageant queen remains a top priority for detectives.

A three-part Netflix series revisits the 1996 discovery of JonBenet Ramsey, who was discovered murdered and abused in the basement of her family’s Colorado home.

The Boulder police department declined to comment on Monday on any leads they are looking into, and her killer has never been apprehended.

They told NBC News, Sky’s US partner network, “It’s clear that the Boulder Police Department wants to solve this case and the only reason is to bring justice to the victim.”

Officers “would love nothing more than to bring justice to her memory,” according to a video message issued by police chief Steve Redfearn, which the force instead cited.

The day following Netflix’s release of Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramset, which reignited interest in the murder that garnered international attention, the remark was made.

On Boxing Day, JonBenet was located a few hours after her mother Patsy reported a ransom letter that had been left behind to the police.

John, the girl’s father, discovered her that afternoon and brought her upstairs, destroying the crime scene’s integrity and drawing criticism of the way the police handled the case.

Information about the crime and video of JonBenet participating in pageants helped make the case one of the most well-known mysteries in the United States.

Mr. Redfearn stated last week, “We acknowledge that there are a number of things that people have pointed out over the years that could have been done better.”

But it’s crucial to remember that, even if we can’t go back to that terrible day in 1996, our objective is to identify JonBenet Ramsey’s killer.

“Our commitment to that has never wavered.”

Prosecutors apologized to the girl’s parents and brother in 2008 and exonerated them of any participation, despite the fact that the family had been under suspicion for years.
